New Family Pictures

We finally had new family pictures taken after nearly three years. We went up Little Cottonwood Canyon in Sandy. It was really pretty up there and the kids loved playing on the cool rocks and exploring all around. I just love the one of our three boys.

Merry Christmas

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. We sure did. This picture was taken at our library storytime. We went just to hear stories and the kids were surprised to see Mr & Mrs Santa Clause come at the end. Luckily I had my camera in my bag. The picture isn't that great because of the huge window behind but it works. I will try to post more Christmas pictures later.

Kyler's 7th Birthday

Kyler's 7th birthday was on Dec 23, yep just two days before Christmas. I asked him how he likes his birthday so close to Christmas, he said he loves it because he gets presents for three days in a row. Presents for birthday, Christmas Eve gift, and of course Christmas. This year he even got a present the day after Christmas as part of a family gift exchange. He was looking at his birthday presents and saw what he knew was going to be a football, how could he tell? He looks disappointed, but really likes his football. Nick and I took Kyler to The Christmas Carol a play put on at the Hale Center Theater. It was his first time going to a stage theater performance and had a great time. Kyler wanted a Plankton (from Spongebob Squarepants) cake. I didn't get a chance to work on his cake until about 6:30 that night, I think it turned out okay. Happy Birthday Kyler, WE LOVE YOU!!!!

Logan's 2nd Birthday!

So yes again this post is late, but what is a mom to do. Logan's 2nd birthday was on November 16th. I can't believe how fast the past two years has been. He has definitely grown and changed so much. I figured a monkey cake is appropriate since he is always following and doing the same things as his brothers. Plus he was a monkey for Halloween. Logan is so loving and will give you a hug and kiss anytime you need one. He is the first to go running and yelling in excitement to Dad as soon as he walks in the door after work. We love you Logan and are so glad you are in our family!

Halloween

So my posts are usually late but they somehow manage to get done. Here are some pictures of our Halloween costumes. I didn't feel like making costumes this year but my kids wanted these costumes. They were actually pretty easy to make. Though I was lucky to find Logan's monkey costume at Kid to Kid so I didn't have to make that. Kyler wanted to be a slime bucket and was very excited with how it turned out. Nathaniel was a bag of Gross- eeries, full of rotten food. I also made Nick's werewolf costume but the picture does not do it justice. It was Nick's turn this year to take to kids trick or treating, they had a great time and from what I hear the costumes were a big hit. We are lucky to live in a neighborhood that is safe to go out and enjoy Halloween.

Pumpkin Patch

We planted pumpkins in our garden this year, but had only one huge pumpkin grow which took all of the nutrients from the other pumpkins that were trying to grow. So we took our kids to a nearby pumpkin patch so they could pick out their own pumpkins. It was a fun place with a maze made out of straw bales for the kids to go through, they also had cardboard cutouts for kids to put their faces through to take pictures to look like halloween creatures. There was even a corn maze but it was to big and difficult for our kids to go in. Our kids had so much fun!

First Haircut

This is always a sad time for me. My baby's first haircut. Logan had a great mullet type hair going on. I loved his long hair in the back, but it was time to let it go. He sat there so still and did better than his brothers in the chair. Nick did a good job and now Logan looks like a toddler instead of my little baby. That's what happens when kids grow up.

No Teeth!

What happened to my little boy?! We have entered the fun looking stage of teeth falling out. The first couple of teeth came out on their own but then Kyler learned that he gets money from the tooth fairy and pulled his top two front teeth out before their time. He has had grown up teeth come in which makes him look better. He thinks its great with all those teeth gone.

Cool New Cast

So this picture is old seeing that Nathaniel has had his cast off since Oct 3, but still wanted to show off his cool cast. Wherever we went people always commented on his cast, which made him feel great. He cried when it finally came off because he was going to miss wearing his cast. But now he his back to playing and so glad to have his arm all better.

First Day of School

It's here!!! Kyler's first day of school, first day of first grade, Monday Aug 25. Oh the excitement in the air! He has been counting down the days for school to start since school got out for summer. He is most excited about being at school all day, two recesses and of course eating lunch at school. We decided that he would bring lunch four days a week and then choose which day he would like to eat school lunch. His teacher is Mrs. Wansgaard. She set up times to met each of her students one on one last week in the classroom so the kids would feel better on the first day of school. It is really exciting to see Kyler getting bigger and older and all the new things he gets to do.

Broken Arm

It was bound to happen sometime. With three very active boys it seemed inevitable. A broken arm is what I am talking about. Last wednesday, Nathaniel was jumping on the trampoline, by just saying trampoline that may explain it all. The funny thing is he was jumping near the center and came down while is arm twisted "by itself" (Nathaniel's words). He didn't hit the bars or springs, just his own body weight and gravity. I was right there and watched it happened. To me it looked like a regular landing and couldn't understand why he was crying so badly and so loud. I went to comfort him and there I saw it, a dip in his arm, undeniably a broken bone. I felt awful, of course he had plenty of reason to cry. Nathaniel was very brave and strong at the hospital. The nurses were so surprised that he was just laying there and wasn't complaining or crying. Probably because it was 8 pm and he was very tired. He is doing good now and is back to playing, just needs to be careful.

Nick Jumping

Here is a video of Nick jumping out of the tree swing.

Haroldsen Reunion

This past weekend Aug 8-10 was the Haroldsen Family reunion. It was held in a cabin in Oxford Idaho, near Preston. Only about half of the families were able to make it this year. It's always good to get families together to visit and play and of course eat yummy food. We went to a tree swing nearby which gave all who dared to ride an exciting thrill. Nick did a back flip out of the swing landing safely, luckily. Cousin Jonathan started collecting grasshoppers in an empty two litter pop bottle. Soon all the cousins were in on the collecting trying to get the bottle filled. By the end of the reunion the bottle was half filled, quite an accomplishment. But what do you do with a pop bottle filled with mostly dead grasshoppers? Well, you shoot it off a bottle rocket and send the bugs flying everywhere! Definitely a boys activity.

boating

Our good friends Aaron and Chelsea Rich invited us to go boating with them. As always the boys had a blast. It had been awhile since Nick has been waterskiing. He did great and even went wake boarding for the first time. Kyler and Nathaniel each had their own turn riding the tube with dad. I stayed safe in the boat with Logan.

Camping

We finally got a camping trip in. We went for the July 24 holiday. The boys had a great time exploring the woods and the small creek near our camp site. It took all of two minutes before they were covered in dirt, a boys dream! We even went hiking to a nearby waterfall. At the end of our camping we were all packed up just barely pulling out when the boys were crying that they already missed camping.

Hiking

We love to go hiking as a family. We are so lucky to live in a place where there lots of places to explore and having the mountains so close . This trail is just above Kaysville in the foothills. It was a 1 mile loop, just fine for the boys. Nathaniel started out in the Kelty backpack while Logan was thrilled to be free and running around. It didn't take long before Logan got tired and wanted to be carried. Well Nathaniel was enjoying the easy life to much to give up is ride, so I pulled out my trusting baby sling and carried Logan. I can tell you this much, the backpack is much better to use when carrying a heavy kid while hiking. Eventually, Nathaniel did want out to run around which was a relief for me but Nick was still stuck carrying Logan after that. Kyler was the leader so he showed us all where to go and was thrilled to be the first one to make it back to the car.

Lagoon Trip

We had a great time going to Lagoon! We were there from 2 in the afternoon until almost 11 at night. The lines were long with lots of people. By around 9 pm most of the families were leaving so that meant much shorter lines for the kids rides. That is when we had the most fun going from ride to ride. It was great to see my boys so happy and having a great time! This picture is of our boys wearing their animal hats as we ride the train around the small zoo.

Kyler loved being able to go on the bigger rides, some he would go on by himself. I was the over-protected mom watching from the sidelines while dad was the one taking him. He asked to go on the old white roller coaster with dad. He was so excited and even got in the very back cart. The coaster started going up and up and up and as soon as it starting going down he was crying and screaming "I want to get off! I want to get off!" This picture is Kyler coming out of a waterslide, having a great time!

It took Nathaniel a little to warm up to the rides but after awhile he started running to the next ride. His favorites were the Dragon roller coaster, the bumper cars, the Merry Go Round, the Ferris Wheel, and the train. We took this picture during the train ride, he was upset to be bothered with a picture while he was looking at the animals.

Logan always had a look of amazement on his face. He had no problem going on the rides, of course he had help from his big brothers being right there with him. He was so excited that there was no way to get him back into the stroller once he was out and free. The whole family went on the Ferris wheel together. I do not do heights or rides, but I thought it how bad can it be? I was freaking out while all three boys were rocking the car, looking all over up and down. Nick had to keep a close hand on Logan because he kept wanting to lean over the side. This picture is of Logan on his first ride, the merry go round.

Catch Up

I guess it's time to play catch up. Hopefully I can get into the habit of posting things so I won't have to try to catch up all that is going on. Our family moved to Kaysville, Ut two years and have loved being here. There are lots of kids on our street for the boys to play with. There are some days that I don't know which friends they have gone to because they just take off. I am trying to teach them the importance of asking so mom knows where they are. The boys are so very social and will play with anyone they see outside. Here we are at a Salt Lake Bees ball game. And our boys being firemen.

About Kyler

Kyler is six and loved being in kindergarten. He is excited about first grade because he gets to eat lunch at school and get two recess'. He likes music and is learning to play the piano. This was his second year to play t-ball. I noticed he was playing catcher a lot and asked him why. He said he likes to play there because he always got to catch the ball--smart kid.
