Scripture Cover

Another project I have loved making are scripture covers. I have my same scriptures since I was young and they have gotten many many years of use and look really sad. My solution was to make a scripture cover. I have loved it so much and have made a couple for some friends.

Old Seat, New Look

I love having a project to work on! I get so many ideas and things that I want to do but it is hard to find the time. I also love to take old things and make them new again, plus it is a good way to save money. It is time to switch McKayla from her infant car seat and into a toddler seat. After having my boys, I wanted to get her a cute girl seat, well I looked and looked and didn't find any that I loved enough to pay the money for. I decided that Logan's old seat was still in good condition and the idea came to recover it. I had extra material from other projects that worked perfectly and so my project began.

I should have taken a picture of the car seat before, but l looked at old pictures and found one (nevermind how dirty Logan is)

And here is the new seat! When I finished, I put it down on the floor and McKayla excitedly crawled over to it and climbed right on, she loves it! I love it!

Lagoon

It was the annual OC Tanner employees and families Lagoon day on June 11. This is a day the boys look forward to every year, living so close to Lagoon they are always asking when we get to go. We always go with Nicks company, they very generously pay for everyones tickets and dinner. Well, this year the weather did not work in our favor. It was rainy and cold! Lagoon was not very busy and we concluded the only crazy people there were the ones who got in for free. The boys didn't seem to notice at all how miserable it was. Poor McKayla was not happy at all being towed around in the cold and wet. The rain stopped and the son sort of came out. The family hung in there and it turned out to be an okay night, we ended up staying until 10 pm (way to late). The best part is when the announcement came that if we bring back our tickets anytime until the end of June we can get in for only $10 each!

Two Tots

The mother fairness in me comes out when I post about my kids. I can't post about two and then leave the other two out. Logan and McKayla were very patient while we watched big brothers in their swim lessons. We would try to find creative ways to keep them entertained while I tried to pay attention to what Kyler and Nathaniel were learning. Having the camera ready always leads to taking lots of pictures from my kids, good thing for digital!

Notice McKayla's teeth finally coming in! She turns one tomorrow, can hardly believe it has already been a year!

Splish Splash!

Kyler and Nathaniel have been taking swimming lessons for the last two weeks. The last day was yesterday and the instructors let their classes go off the diving board. The first kids in line were very timid and didn't want to jump, some even crawled back to get off. Leave it to my boys to get right up there and jump, Kyler even pulling a flip out!

Run run as fast as you can

This past month our family has done a couple of 5k races together. Nick, Kyler, and I participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for Cure in Salt Lake City on May 8th. It was quite something to be apart of something so big and for the cause of finding a cure for breast cancer. It is set up as a low stress, no timed race. We made the deal that we would all run together, poor Nick didn't even break a sweat, afterword he said that was a good warm up. It was crazy to look ahead and see all the people running, but even more inspiring to look behind and see the streets covered with even more people for blocks and blocks. We did okay finishing the race at about 35 min.

Here we are at home after the race.

On May 15th we did the USU Aggie 5k Spring Run Off. This was just down the street from us at the Utah Botanical House. It again was a fun family race. This race was timed so I told Nick that he could run what he wanted. He had Nathaniel and Logan in a double jogging stroller, I pushed McKayla in a single jogging stroller, and Kyler ran. (Thanks to our friends for letting us borrow your strollers!) Nick and the boys took off fast out of the start, I did all I could to catch up but couldn't do it. When I saw Kyler sitting on the curb taking a rest, I thought I could finally catch them but Nick told Kyler I was coming and off they took again. Kyler thought it was cool to beat mom to the finish, it sure kept him running. Nick finished first and was able to get pictures of Kyler and I coming to the finish. The best part was the free Aggie Ice Cream after the race, not the first choice to eat after running a 5k but it was delicious! They ran out of ice cream before everyone finished, good thing we finished in time.

Here is our family with Big Blue before the race, the kids didn't know what to think of him.

This is my attractive finish with a time of 33:03
